Gift ideas for birthdays, anniversaries, holiday's or just because for that special photographer in your life. The Holiday season can be a stressful time of year for just about everyone. But for photographers it can feel like the world is ending and everyone is coming to them to save it. During the holidays photographers get slammed with last minuet bookers, No show cancellations, holiday events, business events, family events, regular schedule sessions. Not to mention senior portraits and don't even get me started about the ending of wedding season.
Being a photographer myself for the last decade I know my way around the field and have created a list of items that any photographer would be happy to receive without busting your budget. No need to thank me but I left links to some items to make it easy.... but you're totally welcome! ;).. oh and everything is under $30. Okay you can thank me!
1. Lens Caps
Lens Caps are lost VERY EASILY. This is a gift that you will need to know what camera lens & model you are buying for. Most lens caps of the same brand will fit different size lens but not all lens are the same size!
2. SD Cards
No photographer can have enough SD cards! I recommend getting any SD card that can hold 64GB or more.
3. SD Card Slot Holders
With all their new SD cards they will need a place to put them!
4. Camera Strap
The least thought about but the most used equipment. Camera straps are usually so over looked by photographers. A personalized or unique camera strap that you think they would love can be a very special gift!
5. Their own prints, Printed.
Depending on the photographer.. this gift can be extremely thoughtful. Its often said that photographer will photograph what they love the most. We often forget we can print our own work because we are lost in the lives of our clients. This would make a great gift for a photographer. Bonus points if you love the photo you get them!
6. New Camera Bag
This is a great gift for a photographer that is just starting out and may not have a way to carry their gear or a veteran photographer that is still using their first bag!
7. Mini Tri Pod
Less expensive than a large tri pod that they may already have. This is great for photographers that travel, take self portraits, or make vlogs!
8. Lens & View Finder Cleaning Kit.
This is an inexpensive gift you can order right online and can potentially save your photographer thousands of dollars.
9. Camera Cleaning appointment
This gift can be on the more expensive side but is another alternative for the Cleaning Kit. These appointments are typically booked at your nearest camera & gadget shop.
10. Personalized Memorabilia
Nothing shows more support than when your friends and family get you a customized gift. Especially to small business owners. Etsy is a great place to go to find and personalize any items to put their business name & logo on your gifts!
11. Backdrop clamps
This is a specific gift for photographers that own or rent studio spaces. Another item we can never have too many of!
12. Camera Holster
Some photographers don't use any straps but will use a holster instead! These are also handy for 2 body users!
13. Camera Batteries & Chargers
Just like SD cards Photographers can never have too many batteries. You need to know what camera make and model your photographer uses before you can buy batteries. Not all cameras use the same batteries (even if its the same brand)
If you get any of these gifts on this list you are guaranteed to make a photographer in your life happy this season. Make sure you know your person and their gear if you plan on getting them a brand/model specific piece of gear! Imagine getting a Nikon user something from Canon.. A holiday hint. Photographers Rep their camera Brand harder than a car guy reps his car! Good luck! Merry Christmas! - Photographer LB
